THE BIRTH CARD
In Belgium - as in many other western countries - it is the habbit to send a birth card to family and friends when a baby is born. The card contains information like the name of the baby, date and time of birth, length, weight, etc...
There is maybe more to see on Freyja her birth card than meets the eye at first sight.
TAAL VOLCANO & TAGAYTAY
The background of the birth card shows Taal volcano (province of Batangas), seen from Tagaytay (province of Cavite), both part of Luzon, Philippines. It is here where Papa and Nanay engaged in 2017.
On January 12, 2020 the volcano Taal - a small but dangerous volcano in the 'Ring of fire' - erupted, spewing ashes across Calabarzon, Metro Manila, and some parts of Central Luzon and Ilocos Region.
TRADITIONAL PHILIPPINE HOUSES
The traditional Filipino houses on the card are based on the house of family in Bulalacao, Mindoro.
On Christmas Eve 2019 Mindoro was affected by typhoon ' Ursula ' (aka ' Phanfone '), the heaviest typhoon they ever endured in Mindoro. The house of Freyja's aunt and uncle was wiped away. Earlier that year - July 2019 - Papa & Nanay visited this house. Papa could take some pictures. Next you'll see photos of the old traditional Philippine house, as from the new one that we could rebuild with fundraising, thanks to the support of friends and family.

ABOUT THE NAME 'FREYJA'
The name Freyja transparently means 'lady, mistress' in Old Norse. Stemming from a feminine form of Proto-Germanic *frawjōn ('lord'), it is cognate with Old Saxon frūa ('lady, mistress') or Old High German frouwa ('lady'; cf. modern German Frau). Freyja is also etymologically close to the name of the god Freyr, meaning 'lord' in Old Norse.
